Job Summary

Brown & Brown Insurance based in our Albany office is seeking an experienced professional to join us as a Senior Project Manager.

This is a full time, benefits eligible remote position, but should you be local to our team in Albany, we can explore in office scheduling. 

The Senior Project Manager (“SPM”) is a key member of the benefits technology team and will be responsible the overall management of mid to large sized health and welfare customer implementations and serve as a strategic advisor to customers for the national EBTech team.  The SPM is a team leader in the project management discipline that manages customer engagements.  The SPM is responsible for coordination of team resources across assigned projects, ensuring that tasks are completed with high quality and timeliness.  The SPM will also serve as the main customer contact throughout the implementation process. The SPM will work closely with the Director of Operations and other leaders to ensure proper resource allocation.  The SPM also serves as a resource for other project managers to provide them guidance on their projects.


Essential Duties and Functions: include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Coordinate with business development teammates to properly transfer sales cycle knowledge for each new implementation the SPM will manage.
  • Manage the overall financial outcomes of projects to ensure financial success
  • Drive exceptional, consistent project management for concurrent projects
  • Establish a trusted advisor role with prospects and customers, and provide consistent, superior relationship management concerning administration and outsourcing issues
    • Manage the implementation of outsourced customer engagements
    • Lead health and welfare administration consulting projects
    • Build leveraged teams that work effectively together
  • Translate business needs into comprehensive project plans including objectives, timeline, deliverables, budget and quality standards for the entire life cycle of the project.
  • Coordinate with team leaders to secure needed resources based on availability and talent needed.
  • Communicate closely with account teams and customer contacts throughout the implementation so that all parties understand tasks, deadlines and items that put timelines at risk if delays occur.
  • Evaluate and assure customer satisfaction and retention
  • Drive results with all parties (EBTech/account team/customer/carriers)
  • Represent EBTech in a professional manner in every interaction with outside parties.
  • Meet regularly with Director of Operations and team leaders to ensure that resources across projects are properly assigned tasks.
  • Provide clients continuous feedback on implementation status for both new sites and renewals.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all team tasks.
  • Utilize project management tools (such as Smartsheet) to manage implementations.
  • Contribute and develop expert knowledge and experience of health and welfare administration and outsourcing best practices, market trends and products and services
  • Teach team members all aspects of successful software deployment in order to increase overall team competency and provide opportunities for advancement.
  • Work with other project managers teammates to help them develop their PM skills.
  • Continually provide review and feedback to team members.
  • Participate in sales calls as needed to help sell new projects.


  • Substantial experience leading projects involving the application of technology to solve human resource needs such as: health and welfare administration, HR systems integration, HRIS/payroll; prior experience with one or more national partners preferred
  • Proven experience in successfully leading project teams with multifaceted, competing priorities and deadlines, including virtual work teams with members in different geographic regions
  • Planning/organizing—the individual prioritizes and plans work activities and uses time efficiently.

  • Experience consulting on the fundamentals of health and welfare plan design and service delivery/technology solutions including best practices, marketplace providers, cost and return on investment issues, pros and cons of solutions, challenges and methodology regarding solution implementation.
  • Quality control—the individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Adaptability—the individual adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.

Required Skills


  • Minimum education required: Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience
  • 5+ years of experience project managing large group implementations on Benefits Administration Software
  • 5 years of experience as working directly with Benefits Administration software on implementations or support
  • 5-7 years of experience with employee benefits
  • Deep knowledge of health and welfare plan design and administration issues
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite
  • Exceptional/professional telephone and in-person demeanor
  • Proven ability to establish relationships and work collaboratively with team members in other practices and at all levels to effectively sell and deliver on customer needs
  • A professional presence with polished and well developed written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Licensure in Life and Health Insurance
