Job Summary

B&B Protector Plans, Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of Brown & Brown, Inc., is currently seeking candidates for a Management Liability Executive Underwriter to support the growth of a new underwriting platform. The ideal underwriter will have significant experience handling D&O, Employment Practices, Fiduciary, Fidelity and Professional Liability products for commercial risks.

We sell property and casualty insurance and employee benefits insurance to mid-sized and large corporations throughout the country.  Protector Plans is part of the National Programs Division of Brown & Brown, which is comprised of over 60 programs and 29 brands uniting insurance solutions for carriers and agencies.

The Executive Underwriter is responsible for blending analytical and marketing skills to the risk assessment process; developing solutions for customers; cultivating relationships with agents and brokers while using relationships to place business with Brown & Brown Protector Plans; selling our competitive advantages in the marketplace and negotiating pricing, terms and conditions which meet the customer’s needs and positions Brown & Brown Protector Plans to achieve a profit

The Management Liability Executive Underwriter’s major duties and responsibilities are:

– Solicits new and renewal submissions from brokers

– Executes on all program guidelines, portfolio management activities and initiatives

– Independently manages assigned book of business to achieve desired retention, rate and new business goals

– Establishes relationships with external partners

– Actively participates in underwriting meetings and calls

– Effectively articulates Brown & Brown Protector Plan’s strategy and market assessment to insureds and brokers

– Conducts travel as appropriate

– Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of all management liability product lines including Directors & Officers Liability, Fiduciary, Crime, Cyber, Employment Practices Liability along with Professional Liability

– Reviews and assesses terms and conditions and provides thoughtful recommendations

– Works independently and with internal colleagues to provide exceptional service

– Utilizes various external and internal resources to assess risk with varying complexities and classes of business

– Documents underwriting files to adhere to audit and compliance standards

– Utilizes individual underwriting authority within program guidelines

– Leads and mentor’s junior staff.

Required Skills

– 10+ years underwriting experience

– Experience with multiple lines of management liability insurance

– Bachelor’s degree

Preferred Qualifications:

– In-depth knowledge of insurance industry

– In-depth knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures

– Strong oral and written communication skills

– Strong negotiation and marketing skills
