Job Summary

USIS, Inc., a subsidiary of Brown & Brown, Inc., is seeking bilingual (English/Spanish) Intake Specialists to assist with the intake and entry of Workers’ Compensation claims received via phone to the system, in a precise and accurate manner, ensuring all client and company protocols are followed.


There are two available shifts:


Weeknight Shift, 7pm to 7am.  Week 1: Wednesday – Friday; Week 2: Monday – Tuesday


Weekend Day Shift, 7am to 7pm.  Saturday and Sunday.


Both shifts are considered full time and the successful candidate will eligible for full benefits.


Essential Duties:

  • From phone report, gather and evaluate information from the injured employee or employer to determine level/category of injury, based on set criteria.
  • Data entry of initial claim information to the claims system, in a precise and accurate manner completing the system First Report of Injury for Florida workers’ compensation claims, working efficiently within deadlines and timeframes.
  • Adhere to phone-tree procedures per client contract, including emergency protocols.
  • Route the First Report of Injury call to the appropriate Triage Unit member for further handling.
  • Verification of data for accurate claim entry, e.g. spelling, grammar, valid social security number, location, etc., in a timely manner.
  • Research any situations that don’t allow claim entry to ensure claim is entered to the system timely.
  • Follow company procedures and State mandated timeframes to comply with laws.
  • Print, organize, verify all related forms for daily mail-out.
  • Verify all data on a daily basis for control purposes – printed lists.
  • Scan and attach new claim documents to the system.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Required Skills

  • 1-2 years medical terminology/medical office experience helpful.
  • Contractual requirement – Bi-lingual/must be fluent in English and Spanish, with good command of the English language for accurate claim entry in English.
  • Fast and accurate data entry.
  • Organized, motivated, detail orientated.
  • Ability to successfully meet daily deadlines.
  • Reliable, good attendance record.
  • High energy level. Fast, happy worker.  Quick to learn and able to function well in a changing environment.
  • Ability to effectively operate a personal computer and related claims and business software.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written. Team player.  Good attendance.  Good customer service skills.

Salary Range

$13.50 to $14.50/hour, based on experience
