Job Summary

Brown & Brown Insurance is seeking an Accounting Assistant to join our team! This individual will be based in our Tampa, Florida office and will be responsible for monitoring and recording daily banking activity, which includes accounts receivable and direct bill deposits in accordance with established company practices and timelines.

Note: This role requires a full time in office schedule, Monday – Friday 8AM-5PM.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process, document, and maintain records of all daily banking activity.
  • Track current direct bill receivable, advising Team Leader of activity
  • Maintain records of all daily bank transactions, including but not limited to, check deposits and EFTs.
  • Ensure all support for transactions is processed and filed accurately and timely in agency management systems.
  • Receipt, record Direct Bill Commission Received
  • Generate, process, distribute, and maintain records of company account statements and vendor invoices.
  • Reconcile and process payments.
  • Keep accounts in balance and prepare a month end summary in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain records of all paid and unpaid insurance company receivables ensuring accurate amounts due.
  • Collaborate with service team to resolve billing errors.
  • Build courteous and successful relationships with vendors and carriers to maintain efficient practices.
  • Promote teamwork, support, knowledge sharing and a positive attitude in the department and office.
  • Participate in training opportunities to remain current on industry information, new product development, legislation, coverages, and technology including professional development and continuing education.

Required Skills

  • Associates degree, required.
  • Bachelors degree in a financial related discipline, preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Windows environment, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Power Point, and Publisher. Able to create, edit, and merge letters, spreadsheets, labels, etc.
  • 1+ year office experience.
