Job Summary

Summary:

To be responsible for the sales of employee benefits products to new and existing agency customers.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop an Employee Benefits Sales and Marketing Center for the agency. Establish referral sources through relationships with Realtors, Bankers, Mortgage Companies, Builders, Auto Dealerships, etc.
  • Create visibility through involvement in community.
  • To receive requests for Employee Benefits new business quotes, ascertain lead source, and gather the necessary information to produce quotation. Create proposal, including recommendations, for presentation to prospect using sales techniques representative of the agency.
  • To be responsible for establishing premium payment arrangements and meeting agency account receivable guidelines for each new account.
  • To work closely with Employee Benefits Customer Service Agents, providing guidance and assistance in maintaining and servicing the agency’s employee benefits accounts.
  • Monitor all employee benefits new business lead sources for review with management.
  • Maintain pleasant and satisfactory relationships with all company personnel, with emphasis placed on meeting agency/company objectives. Place new business in the best available market for the insured, taking into consideration maximum commission and protection of agency markets.
  • To generate commercial insurance and estate planning leads through prospecting new and existing customers.
  • To maintain monthly New Business Log for review with management.
  • Communicate information pertaining to new employee benefits markets, products and market place changes to the Employee Benefits Department Leader.
  • Set priorities and manage work-flow in a timely manner to ensure efficient and accurate processing of transactions and other responsibilities.
  • To understand the role of automation in our agency, and maximize utilization of its capability for sales activities.
  • To ask for referrals and monitor all new business employee benefits lead sources.
  • To make every effort to be informed regarding industry information, new product information, changes in legislation, coverages and technology to continually enhance knowledge and performance.
  • To perform special projects upon management’s request
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Requirements:

  • High School or equivalent required
  • College Degree preferred but not required
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of Applied System but not required
  • Proficient in Excel and Word (Required). Other Microsoft office applications such as Power Point and Access helpful.
